First Moon Circle

Period Positive Education for Girls and Their Caregivers

Periods.

A beautiful, empowering alternative to traditional period education for girls age @10-12 and their caregivers. Through craft, play, connection, and a special parent-daughter celebration we empower girls to enter this time with confidence and secure attachment.

Comfort.

At the beginning of the three hour event, girls will gather in a circle of peers to ask questions, receive information, and explore different period products. This is often their favorite part! They will open a tampon, explore a menstrual cup, place a pad in a pair of undies... Giggles and excitement help to normalize the process before they need to use the products.

Celebration.

Caregivers (mothers if possible) will join for a holistic and inclusive rite of passage celebrating menarche (first period). We will make special bracelets, share wisdom and stories, discuss how mothers and daughters can chart the hormone cycle and how it affects our mood, sleep, energy, and what self-care might help. We grow the foundation for warm and open conversation at home.

Studies show girls who are comfortable with their periods speak up, get help, have bodily autonomy (confidence to make good choices), and have better health outcomes from teens, pregnancy, birth and beyond.

I did my training through the lovely First Moon Circle School.

why

In addition to my massage specialization in Women’s Health, I attended an in depth First Moon Circle training to help girls enter this phase with information and confidence. Studies show girls who are comfortable with their periods speak up, get help, have bodily autonomy (confidence to make good choices), and have better health outcomes from teens, pregnancy, birth and beyond.
